Overview

Lemosho starts on the remote western side of the mountain — a quieter, more remote forest section that joins the Machame trail at Barranco. The extra day in the highlands gives your body more time to adapt, which is exactly why summit rates on the 8-day Lemosho are consistently among the highest on Kilimanjaro.

Why this route?

  • Climbers who want the best odds of summiting
  • Travellers happy to invest one extra day for safety
  • Anyone climbing in peak season who wants to avoid crowds early on

Highlights

  • Quiet rainforest start with the highest chance of wildlife sightings
  • Two full days on the Shira Plateau for acclimatisation
  • Joins the Southern Circuit for the Barranco Wall + summit night
