Safety

Our safety briefing

A short briefing on how we keep guests safe in parks, on the mountain, and on the coast. Your guide will walk through the relevant parts on arrival.

On safari

  • Stay inside the vehicle inside park boundaries unless your guide says otherwise.
  • Keep voices low near wildlife; sudden noise stresses animals.
  • Don't feed primates — Tanzanian law and a real risk to baboons in particular.
  • Lodges have nighttime escorts to and from rooms — please use them.

On Kilimanjaro

  • Daily pulse-oximeter and Lake Louise score checks with your lead guide.
  • Descent is the default treatment for serious AMS — no question.
  • Hydration target: 3–4L/day. Carry water on the trail in two bottles minimum.
  • Emergency oxygen and a portable altitude chamber on every climb above 4,500m.

In Zanzibar and on the coast

  • Tide-aware swim windows — your guide knows the daily schedule.
  • Reef shoes for snorkel trips. We provide if you don't bring your own.
  • Respect Ramadan and prayer hours in Stone Town: modest dress, no street drinks.

Health & insurance

Yellow fever certificate required if arriving from a YF-risk country. Travel medical insurance is mandatory for all climbs; recommended for safaris. We can arrange evacuation coverage through Flying Doctors and AMREF if your policy doesn't include it.

In emergency, your guide carries a satellite phone and our 24/7 ops line. Office: +255 695 179 498.
