Often overlooked in favour of its famous neighbours, Tarangire National Park rewards visitors with classic African scenery and the largest elephant population on the northern circuit.
Land of giants
In the dry season, hundreds of elephants converge on the Tarangire River, moving between giant baobabs in scenes that feel straight out of a wildlife documentary.
A quieter circuit
With far fewer vehicles than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire is a wonderful first or last stop on a northern Tanzania safari.
